Description of the School

The school campus is in a distinguished residential quarter of As Sulaymaniya, in Saudi Arabia’s capital city, Riyadh. The school facilities include 46 classrooms, 7 staffrooms, 2 Science Labs, 2 Computer Labs, 1 library, 2 art rooms, and an indoor basketball court in the boys’ section. The school is made up of 3 campuses, they house the four sections as the following:

1-Preschool campus is made up of one building and one indoor playground.

2-1-2-3-section campus has 1 building and one indoor playground.

3- The girls’ section has 2 buildings with 2 playgrounds.

4- The boys’ section has a three-floor-one building with 3 floors and 1 playground.

Taj Riyadh International School had its beginnings in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It started as a small nursery for child care, owned and managed by Princess Fahda Bint Hathlool Abdul-Aziz Al Saud.

In 1993, the school was named Riyadh Montessori and started to accommodate students to its nursery and preparatory programs. The school’s enrollees gradually increased and several changes of location had to be made to cater this growth.

As the school population increased, it also had to relocate. It also undertook changes in name, from Riyadh Montessori to Al Taj Private School to Al Taj National Elementary School, and finally to Al Taj International School, in 2001.

Through the leadership of School Administrator, Dr. Amelita P. dela Cruz, the school was granted the Provisional Government Permit by the Philippine Department of Education on 3 April 2006.

On 15 March 2007, the Philippine Department of Education granted the Al Taj International School the Government Permit to operate pre-elementary, elementary, and secondary courses under Government Permit No. 004, s. 2007.

After getting the Government Permit No.520-5302 in June, 2021, the school has adopted and started teaching an American curriculum.

The school commenced on the August 5, 2021with student numbers which totaled 600. We currently have 21 classes and two preschool groups with enrolments around 600.

TRIS recognizes the need to offer a balanced instructional menu. Therefore, in addition to core academic subjects, students are experiencing new subjects like,[1]Elective courses. All students attend the mentioned subjects for 40-minutes classes on a rotating schedule. Concerning lower graders, some students attend a learning support class for 120 minutes d daily. Furthermore, a Kg 3 Montessori class is established in Kindergarten Section. Regarding students’ activities, it includes arts and crafts, outdoor games, sports competition, Spelling Bee activity, Math and Science Competitions, Computer Fair, English Day, Arabic Day and field trips.

TRIS staff are qualified and of a great teaching experience, approximately, eighty percent (80%) of Taj Riyadh International School’s’ faculty have Bachelor degrees, 5% Master and PHD degrees and 15% Diploma degrees, although the school provides continuous trainings inside and outside the school.
